ACTUS LEND LEASE OFFICALLY OPENS FIRST “GREEN” COMMUNITY AT MIDWAY PARK

 Camp Lejeune, NC – September 8, 2009
Atlantic Marine Corps Communities (AMCC), thepublic/private venture partnership between the Department of the Navy and Actus Lend Lease, is proud to announce a major construction milestone
by completing the 2000th renovated or newly built AMCC home. The 2,000th home will be marked at the Camp Lejeune neighborhood of Midway Park .

”Atlantic Marine Corps Communities is honored to deliver the 2000th home to our Service Members, this milestone shows our dedication and commitment to improving their qualify of life,” stated Kitt Murney, AMCC Project Director.

Another unique element of the 2,000th home is this house is among the first group of homes that Actus Lend Lease has constructed that are LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for Homes certified Gold.  Once the Midway Park neighborhood is complete, it is expected to be the first on a Marine Corps Base and the largest neighborhood in the state of North Carolina to be comprised of all LEED-H certified homes.

LEED for Homes is a national third-party certification system for energy efficiency, healthy, green homes.  Atlantic Marine Corps Communities will join more than 700 national builders, including custom home builders, production builders and affordable housing developers to develop this type of home.

The benefits of building LEED homes include lower utility costs by utilizing dual flush toilets, energy efficient appliances, compact florescent lighting (CFL), thicker insulation, and more.   The 537 new homes will also use recycled content material in the sheetrock and drywall and provide better air quality for Residents.

The Midway Park neighborhood will maintain existing road patterns to reduce the need for new infrastructure, which allows AMCC to save trees and minimize dust and noise.  In addition, the LEED homes will feature dual pane windows that reduce the amount of heat let in from outside and all homes will feature Energy Star Appliances which use 20-30% less energy.

Atlantic Marine Corps Communities will celebrate this milestone by recognizing and marking the 2000th home in Midway Park on Wednesday, September 16 at 11:00 a.m.  For additional information or arrangements for access to the event, please contact Dixie Lanier at (910) 219-6437 or dixie.lanier@actuslendlease.com.
